The Stage Hill Polo School and Club, with Peter Poor as President, has been the go-to place to learn polo in New England for 30 years. The longevity of the Stage Hill is an indication of Peter Poor’s business acumen and his love of the sport of polo.
Stage Hill supplies all the equipment and horses and offers polo lessons at both the beginner and intermediate level. For our beginners, we start every class with an overview of the sport of polo, a brief introduction to the rules and game strategy, how to hold the mallet, swing types and then it is on to the Ponies! Each person will have time on the pony to practice and play in a scrimmage. There is a lot to learn, so we start slow, at a walk or trot so you can concentrate on building skills. At the intermediate level, we play 3 times every week – Tuesday and Thursday evenings are in a regulation sized arena and Saturday Afternoon’s are played on a grass field to give you the full polo experience. We scrimmage with fast and slow chukkers, so you can improve your skills at a reasonable pace and push yourself to do better and go faster.
Polo lessons are taught year round. Indoors in winter and grass/arenas all other times of year. During the months of December 1 to April 30, we offer a program in Palm Beach, Florida. Visit our website for more information and call us to book your first lesson!
